Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky – Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, “Pathétique”
Joy and tragedy share the stage in this passionate performance by the Immaculata Symphony. Dr. Robert Frazier conducts Isaac Albeniz’s suite Cantos de Espana, originally composed for piano and orchestrated by Joseph Lorini. Then piano soloist Stephen Campitelli takes us on another journey through Spain in Manuel de Falla’s lush work for piano and orchestra, Nights in the Gardens of Spain. We then return to Russia for Tchaikovsky’s emotional symphony, the “Pathétique” the last of Tchaikovsky’s compositions premiered in his lifetime and performed nine days before his death. A truly outstanding work you do not want to miss.
